A couple of days ago, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman defended the officiating in the Stanley Cup playoffs, saying he thought the games were being called fairly and rules upheld. But, Game 2 between the Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins has featured wildly inconsistent calls throughout the first two periods, that have gone for and against both teams.
After the first period, even NBC’s Mike Milbury ripped the NHL refs and called the officiating “putrid.”
Another person who’s upset with the calls on the ice? Country superstar Carrie Underwood, who is married for Predators captain Mike Fisher.
Underwood sent this tweet right after the Predators’ Cody McLeod was sent off for high sticking Ian Cole. That was a fair call, but for two periods, slashes, hits and high sticks have been called in a haphazard manner throughout the game.
At the end of two, the Preds and Penguins are tied 1-1.
