According to experts, by the end of this decade, 5G technologies will surely enter our life. What does this mean for us? Perhaps the first to feel its benefits are millions of smartphone owners, as the connection will be more rapid. But this is only a tiny tip of the iceberg of the great opportunities that we will find with 5G.
Last Tuesday, Nokia announced new items, which it will present at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress and its vision of 5G technologies. According to forecasts of its leading experts, the level of traffic safety on the roads will significantly increase, and doctors will be able to perform operations using robots with a wireless control system.
The connection speed will increase. So in its laboratories Nokia has already experienced a connection with a download speed of 30 gigabits per second, which is 1000 times faster than in 4G. In reality, this speed can not be achieved because of the many different objects that are near the towers of cellular communications. Nevertheless, with the introduction of 5G it can be about increasing the speed by 10 – 100 times.
Currently, unmanned vehicles receive information from wireless networks. One of the problems is the lag in the data processing between the car and the traffic control center. In the case of full autonomy of cars, they must learn to navigate the road environment and avoid emergencies. 5G networks will allow data to be transferred in the right amount with minimal delay.
Video multi-casting of concerts and sports matches from giant screens, which are usually equipped with stadiums, will move to displays of smartphones and tablets in real time in 4K format with HD resolution.
Everything goes to the fact that many complex operations will be performed by robotic surgeons. The main task is to make sure that they react instantly to the commands coming from the “live” surgeon. The same applies to industrial robots serving conveyors.
A virtual reality
According to Nokia c technologies 5G virtual reality will move to a new level. Remote participants from each other will be able to interact with each other, as if they were in one place.
