Xiaomi has once again launched a smartphone that is most likely to tick all the boxes in its segment. The Mi A1 not only comes with a dual rear camera setup but the device is also the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with Android One. Yes if you were on a lookout for a near stock Android experience on Xiaomi device then this is it. In this segment, we will walk you through some of the best features that the Xiaomi Mi A1 has to offer,

Chao MIUI, Welcome back Android One

Android One had appeared on a slew of budget smartphones way back in 2014. However despite the promise for regular updates and a clean stock Android interface Google left the Android One in the lurch without any updates. Yes, the Android One smartphones are selling in some of the developing countries but the operating system couldn’t scale the heights.

With the Xiaomi Mi A1 the Android One makes a comeback and the Android One seems to have borrowed some elements from the Android Nougat. I personally disliked the MIUI for being top heavy, especially at times when the smartphone was maxed out. However, with the Android One on board, the Xiaomi users finally have a chance to try out the stock Android on their Xiaomi device. The icing on the cake is that Xiaomi has promised Android Oreo for the Mi A1 by the end of the year and the device will also be the first one to get Android P update.

Dual- Lens Camera

Well, the dual lens feature is in vogue and most of the manufacturers have picked the same. The OnePlus 5, Honor 8 Pro and even the latest Moto G4S Plus comes with a dual camera setup. Xiaomi has opted for the (12MP+12MP) wide-angle+telephoto lens setup and this according to me is one of the best dual camera configurations (and apparently also the most expensive one.) The dual camera setup lets you take photos in portrait and bokeh modes. Both the lens together will also result in a better depth of field measurement. Xiaomi promises a 2X lossless zoom and at this price segment, it’s a welcome feature.

If you are a selfie buff Xiaomi has also lined up it’s Beautify 3.0 mode that uses natural color correction to enhance your pictures. Going by the camera samples the color reproduction seems to be impressive as well.

The Design Language

The Xiaomi Mi A1 looks premium and sleek at the same time. The antenna lines have been concealed and this imparts a clean look to the device. Rounded edges along with the metal finish complement each other and the Mi A1 is pretty thin with a thickness of just over 7mm.

Yet another observation is that the thin bezels, yes despite not opting for a completely bezel-less display Xiaomi still seems to have achieved a decent screen to body ratio. And before we move on the Xiaomi Mi A1 is currently being offered in Rose Gold, Gold and Black.

Audio Features

It seems like Xiaomi has given enough importance when it comes to the audio features in the Mi A1. The device features a 10V smart power amplifier that is said to improve the playback quality at high volumes and also amplify the sound out. The smart power amplifier will come in handy when you are listening on your headphones, car audio or any other external speakers connected by AUX. That’s not all, Xiaomi has also tossed in a DHS audio amplifier module, one that improves the speaker outputs.

Improved Thermal Management

Thermal Management has been one of the most challenging Engineering aspects when it comes to today’s smartphones. The devices are becoming slimmer and the processors are becoming more powerful and capable. It is for this reason that Xiaomi has employed a Pyrolytic graphite sheet. This layer is expected to decrease the temperature by 2-degrees.

IR Blaster

This is one feature I wish every modern day phone comes with. The IR blaster is a boon since it allows you to control electrical appliances in the home including your TV, AC, audio system and even set top box.
