After terrifying crash, it’s a miracle Indy 500 driver Scott Dixon is OK

INDIANAPOLIS – There is no question about it – IndyCar Series driver Scott Dixon walking away from this terrifying, car-destroying crash is a miracle.

About a quarter of the way through the 101st Indy 500, driver Jay Howard lost control of his car, bounced off the wall in turn one and – as he slid to the other side of the track still at a high speed – Dixon, the pole winner, came from behind and smashed into Howard’s car.

Dixon flew through the air and tore open a piece of the catchfence while his car was shredded to pieces.

Both drivers involved were evaluated and released from the medical care center, and it’s incredible that they both walked away without being injured.
