Samsung launches the Galaxy J7 Pro and the J7 Max in India with 4G VoLTE, Samsung Pay support

Samsung India expanded its line up of mid range handsets in India with the addition of two brand new handsets to its lineup. The new handsets to be launched are the Galaxy J7 Pro and the Galaxy J7 Max. Both the handsets boast of support for Samsung Pay making them the first mid range smartphones to support Samsung’s payment system. Let us now take a look at the specsheet of both the handsets. We start off with the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro first.

As clear from the specsheet the J7 Pro gets a large 5.5 inch, full HD super AMOLED display and finds itself powered by Samsung’s in house Exynos 7870 SoC which houses a 1.6Ghz quad core processor. The handset gets 3GB of RAM and ample 64GB of internal storage with the option to add a microSD card for additional storage.

The J7 Pro gets a slightly improved camera compared to the last year’s J7 series and houses a 13-megapixel cameras on both the sides – front and rear. Like most other Samsung handsets in this price bracket, the J7 Pro is a dual SIM handset and supports 4G VoLTE networks. There is a fingerprint sensor as well for additional security. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat at launch and packs in a 3,600 mAh battery.

Thanks to the “Max” moniker, it is easy to deduce that one of the key features of the Galaxy J7 Max is its larger display. The handset gets a 5.7-inch full HD panel – but unlike most other Samsung’s this happens to be a TFT display and is not an AMOLED panel. Under the hood, the J7 Max is powered by the Mediatek Helio P20 Octa-Core (MT6757V) 64-bit processor that also houses an ARM Mali T880 GPU. The J7 Max gets by with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. You can add additional memory – thanks to a microSD card slot. Moving on to the imaging department, the J7 max sports identical camera specs to the J7 Pro and houses twin 13-megapixel shooters. Like the J7 Pro, the J7 Max also gets a fingerprint scanner and support for 4G VoLTE. In spite of being karger, the J7 Max gets the same 3300 mAH battery.

Both the handsets, as mentioned earlier happen to be the first lower mid-range Samsung phones to support Samsung Pay.  (The lower priced J7 Max only supports Samsung Pay Mini- a toned down version of Samsung Pay) Another feature common to both the handsets is the new Social Camera app that facilitates instant sharing of images to social media

Both the handsets are offered in two colour options – Black and Gold and the prices are as follows;

  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro: ₹20,900
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Max: ₹17,900

Both the phones will be available starting July and will also come with an introductory offer if you pay for the devices using PayTM.
