Samsung Galaxy S7 receiving the June security patch update in India

Samsung has started rolling out the June security patch update for the Galaxy S7 in India. The same update was rolled out to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones in a few markets such as North America about a week back. Since it isn’t a major update, the OTA update weighs in at only 47.23MB in terms of size. That means you don’t necessarily have to wait until your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network to get the update installed.

The latest update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 units in India carries the build version G930FXXU1DQE7 and is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. As can be seen in the screenshot below, the update includes the Android security patch update dated June 1, 2017. Apart from the June security patch update, the latest update also includes some device stability improvements, bug fixes, and a few enhanced features.

Most of you might already have received an automatic update notification on your handsets. For those of you who haven’t, we suggest going to the Settings Menu and checking for the update manually. Being a minor update, it will only take a few minutes for it to be installed on your Galaxy S7. That said, it is still not recommended to get the update installed in case your device is running low on battery. If your Galaxy S7 has less than 40% battery charge left, you should charge it for some time before you get the update installed.

Galaxy S7 update

Samsung hasn’t started rolling out the same update for the Galaxy S7 Edge in India yet, but we do expect it to arrive within the next few days or so. Usually, Samsung rolls out OTA updates for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge simultaneously.
