PC Maker HP recently announced significant updates to its HP Omen series. In a previous article, we talked about the revamped gaming laptops. Let us now take a look at the new desktop gaming machines from HP Omen. The new desktop machines come in a variety of permutations and combinations and boast of the latest CPU and GPU combinations – including AMD’s new Ryzen chips as well as Intel’s latest generation processors. All the new desktops also boast of new designs that also claim to aid in an overall performance improvement. All the new desktops come with twice the number of fans compared to previous models. The size of the cases too have been increased and is now 15 percent bigger. The new fans allow 50 percent greater airflow as well.
As part of the new design, the laptops get flip-open doors that conceal a pair of swappable drive bays. There are tons of connectivity options on the system including two USB 3.0 Type A and two USB 3.0 Type C ports at the front and four USB 3.0 Type A and two USB 2.0 Type A, plus HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, and three audio outputs at the rear. The side panel on all the models except the entry-level version gets a see through access panel.
Prices for the HP Omen desktops start at $900 for the entry level version and goes up to $2,199 for the top-end variant. Here are the details of all the versions.
- $900: Quad-core Ryzen 5 1400 with SMT, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB hard drive, 3GB GDDR5 GeForce GTX 1060
- $1,500: Eight-core Ryzen 7 1700, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD plus 1TB hard drive, 8GB GDDR5 GeForce GTX 1070
- $1,900: Eight-core Ryzen 7 1800X, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD plus 2TB hard drive, 8GB GDDR5X GeForce GTX 1080
- $2,199: Quad-core Core i7-7700K, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD plus 2TB hard drive, and 11GB GDDR5X GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
There is no word as yet of an India launch, just on case you were wondering.
