OnePlus 5 vs Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S8: Specs Comparison

OnePlus has finally introduced its latest flagship — OnePlus 5 — with a dual camera setup. Instead of being heavily hyped, this OnePlus 5 remained ripe with several leaks and speculations. With unmistakable resemblance with the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, the new flagship will have to live through the said comparison till its end of life. After the success of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, the company’s latest offering packs a new design, a top-tier processor, faster storage, and a dual-camera setup.

The OnePlus 5 is yet another dual-camera setup sporting flagship in the market. Before jumping the gun on it being a “flagship killer”, take a look at how the phone’s specs fare against the Samsung Galaxy S8 (review) and Xiaomi Mi 6 in the table below.

From the table, it’s quite evident that the Samsung Galaxy S8 with a better pixel density offering screen and camera would be an ideal choice. All three phones share a common top-tier chipset — Snapdragon 835. However, the real world performance would differ purely based on the Nougat optimisation on these three phones. Do note that both Xiaomi Mi 6 and OnePlus 5 pack the LPDDR4X RAM that has a marginal power-saving advantage over the LPDDR4 RAM used in the Galaxy S8. While in most areas the S8 appears to be a winner but OnePlus 5 continues to play its trump card – Dash Charge.

As of now, Xiaomi Mi 6’s release in the Indian market is quite ambiguous. The Galaxy S8 is already available for purchase from both, offline and online stores. Both variants of the OnePlus 5 are set to go on sale at 4:30 PM on June 22 in India exclusively at Amazon.

While we wait for the Mi 6’s official release, we might be getting our hands on the OnePlus 5 soon and will be reviewing it. Do let us know what you think about the OnePlus 5 specs.
