Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 launched in India starting at Rs 9,499

HMD Global took a dipstick in India by introducing the Nokia 3310 last month. Today, a rejuvenated Nokia is unveiling the trio of its smartphones – Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3. All three smartphones run Android 7.0 Nougat and are eligible to get the next Android O upgrade, whenever it is available. These are the first three Nokia smartphones to mark the company’s re-entry into the India market.

Nokia first showed the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 in Barcelona at the MWC 2017 earlier this year. HMD Global wanted to manufacture Nokia’s new Android phones in India, and that’s one of the reasons for a possible delay. Now that the three new Nokia phones are launching all of them are expected to carry the “Made in India” tag.

Chronologically, the Nokia 6 appears to be the current top-tier mid-range phone from the Nokia’s stable. After its successful debut in China last year, Nokia announced its global availability back in February.

Pricing and Availability

Nokia has to face a tough competition with the established players in the budget and the mid-range segment. That’s why the company is trying to play it safe with the pricing.

– Nokia 3: ₹9,499
– Nokia 5: ₹12,899
– Nokia 6: ₹14,999

The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 will be sold offline only.  The pre-bookings will start from July 7.  Meanwhile, the Nokia 6 will be sold online through Amazon India and pre-orders begin July 14. The Amazon Prime subscribers can grab it for ₹13,999 if they buy it using Amazon Pay. Finally, the Nokia 3 will be sold in offline stores starting June 16.

From purely the specifications point of view, one can get better options to each of the Nokia phones right now. However, Nokia is pushing for a cleaner and closer-to-stock Android experience along with a distinct design language.
