Mets apologize after video of mascot Mr. Met ‘flipping off’ fans goes viral

The New York Mets released a statement to apologize that their mascot, Mr. Met, flipped off fans in a video that went viral on Wednesday night as the Mets lost to the Brewers, 7-1.

The statement says they “are dealing with this matter internally.”

This is the short video that features Mr. Met giving fans the finger:

The biggest thing about this is we have no idea what the fans said to Mr. Met to get that reaction.

The other thing is, as SB Nation‘s Hector Diaz points out, Mr. Met only has four fingers, so technically he can’t flip anybody off.
