Despite being several years removed from actually playing in the NBA, now-Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Damon Jones hasn’t lost a step, going shot-for-shot with LeBron James during a “friendly” shootaround Saturday ahead of Sunday’s NBA Finals Game 2 matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
James makes a 3, and then Jones steps up and hits nearly the exact same one.
Beyond their coach-player relationship, James and Jones were teammates for three seasons between 2005 and 2008 before Jones was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks the next season.
The two remained close over the years, and in a 2015 story, Grantland even described Jones as the LeBron’s secret weapon. Maybe over the years, Jones has played a critical role in helping James stay at the top of his game.
