Intel will announce the 8th Gen “Coffee Lake”

Shortly after announcing availability details for its HEDT Core X-series processors, Intel has now announced that it will be introducing the 8th Generation “Coffee Lake” Core processors at an event on the 21st of this month. The “Coffee Lake” chips will be manufactured on a 14nm process node, just like the Broadwell, Skylake, and Kaby Lake architectures before it. The announcement event will be live-streamed on Facebook at 8 AM PDT (8.30 PM IST) on August 21. Intel has in fact listed eight reasons why you should tune into the live stream.

While detailed info will only be shared at the announcement event on the 21st, Intel has said that the 8th Generation Core processors will deliver up to 30% higher performance when compared to the current Kaby Lake processors in select applications. That does mighty impressive and suggests “Coffee Lake” will deliver a significant performance upgrade compared to the previous generation. The initial 8th Gen Core lineup is expected to include the following chips:

  • Intel Core i3-8100
  • Intel Core i3-8300
  • Intel Core i3-8350K
  • Intel Core i5-8400
  • Intel Core i5-8600K
  • Intel Core i7-8700
  • Intel Core i7-8700K
