Gionee A1 Lite launched in India for Rs.14,999, features a 20MP selfie camera and 4000mAh battery

Gionee today launched the A1 Lite in India, the third A1-series smartphone so far. The company had launched the A1 back in March, while the A1 Plus was launched last month. The A1 Lite, as the name suggests, isn’t as impressive as the A1 and A1 Plus in terms of the hardware specs. Available in Gold and Black color options, the A1 Lite is priced at Rs.14,999. It will be going on sale in India starting tomorrow, i.e. August 10th. Launch offers include additional 10GB data per month for Airtel subscribers on 1GB or higher data recharge for a period of six months, and two Paytm cashback voucher codes worth Rs.250. However, you will need to purchase an item worth a minimum of Rs.350 on Paytm mall in order to receive the cashback amount.

The A1 Lite sports a 5.3-inch 720 x 1280 HD resolution display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top. Running under the hood is MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 1.3 GHz, with a Mali-T720 GPU. The smartphone includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, which is further expandable by up to 256GB via a Hybrid Dual SIM slot configuration.

Even though the A1 Lite is more of a lower mid-range handset, it still includes a fantastic selfie camera on the front. In fact, it comes with a similar 20MP selfie snapper as the more expensive A1 Plus, complete with a soft LED selfie flash. The primary camera at the back is a slightly less impressive 13MP snapper, with an LED flash. Below the rear camera is a circular fingerprint scanner.

Connectivity wise, the A1 Lite features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG support, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. A massive 4000mAh battery keeps the lights on, so you can expect pretty good battery life. On the software front, Gionee A1 Lite will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box with the manufacturer’s Amigo OS 4.0 UI layer on top.
