Five Droolworthy Features in iPhone X

Apple’s latest claim to fame is the all new iPhone X, Apart from being hailed as the most expensive and distinctive iPhone ever, the iPhone X does come with some brilliant features and inclusions that make it an interesting buy. The overall design language has apparently taken a paradigm shift and so has some of the features on the iPhone X. The Edge-to-Edge display is a 5.8-inch OLED display that blends beautifully with the stainless steel band running along the periphery of the iPhone X. In this segment, we will walk you through some of the best functions iPhone X has to offer,

The Display Brilliance

The iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inch OLED Edge-to-Edge display and offers a pixel density of 458ppi, the highest pixel density ever offered by iPhone. The screen-to-body ratio is impressive and the device only looks more beautiful since Apple has cut down on the chin. Bettering the display offering is Dolby Vision and HDR 10 both of which help achieve better contrast ratio and true to life display quality.

Adios! Touch ID, Welcome Face ID

The most courageous thing Apple did last year was to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack and this year around they ditched the Touch ID on the iPhone X. Yes, the fingerprint sensor is now replaced by an advanced facial recognition module. The Face ID boasts of high accuracy and the chances of a random user gaining access via FaceID is 1 in 1million which is very less as opposed to the 1 in 50,000 accuracy rate offered by the TouchID.

Apple has apparently worked with Hollywood to create face mask and try to spoof the Facial recognition. The Face ID works in conjecture with a series of sensors including infrared camera, flood illuminator, ambient light sensor, front camera and the Dot projector. When one looks at the phone the IR sensor projects 30k invisible dots and works with the camera to check the image with the one stored in the secure enclave chip. Gestures Galore

With Apple ditching the Touch ID and the Home button, the user interface of the iPhone 7 heavily relies on the gestures. It’s interesting how Apple has managed to incorporate all the navigation options without the need for a physical button. The control centre can be accessed by swiping down from the upper right side and for the notification, one needs to swipe down from the top left side.

The Selfie treatment and the Dual Rear Camera

The front camera on the iPhones have been good enough but unlike other manufacturers, Apple didn’t actually spruce up its front camera. However in the iPhone X, the front camera has received the treatment it deserves and as a result of this, we can see a Portrait Mode available for the front camera. The dual rear camera setup on the iPhone X consists of a 12MP+12MP lens combo. Both the lens offer Optical Image Stabilisation. The telephoto lens offers an aperture of f/2.4 while the wide-angle lens offers f/1.8.

The Animoji and AR Filters

Are you a big fan of Emoji? Well, Apple seems to have taken the emoji game to the next level with the Animoji. The all new emoji uses face recognition to detect your facial expression and synthesises the same into an animated emoji. Apple has also worked with Snapchat to offer AR filters and this works in tandem with the facial recognition technology on the iPhone X.
