Dustin Johnson’s pre-US Open schedule includes Paulina Gretzky giving birth

We’ve been talking all week about the (extremely unlikely) possibility of Phil Mickelson playing in the upcoming U.S. Open despite choosing to attend his daughter’s graduation.

But there’s another big name who would have a good excuse to miss the tournament: Dustin Johnson.

Johnson, the defending U.S. Open winner, will be at home waiting for fiancee Paulina Gretzky to give birth. And according to ESPN’s Ian O’Connor, because Gretzky didn’t give birth on Sunday, there’s a plan in place for how Johnson can attend both big events:

Golf Digest added that Johnson has a press conference at 4 p.m. Wisconsin time at Erin Hills on Wednesday, so it’s all set up for DJ to be around for his second kid’s birth and to play.
