With one day to go until Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Draymond Green has no interest in debating where LeBron James ranks among the all-time NBA greats.
He’s actually ready to name LeBron as the greatest to ever play, but it’ll come at a cost: The 2017 NBA championship.
Green and Steph Curry joined Good Morning America on Wednesday for a sit-down interview. Green was asked directly about where he’d rank LeBron James. Green wasn’t exactly excited about the question.
“It don’t really matter … He can have that title. He just can’t have this ring. That’s our goal. Our goal isn’t to make everyone say, ‘Hey, LeBron isn’t the greatest player of all-time.’ More power to him. Go ahead! At the end of the day, it’s all subjective anyway.”
LeBron has been compared to Kobe, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson over the past couple weeks. These debates have surrounded LeBron’s entire NBA career, but Green wasn’t about to give LeBron any sort of validation right before the NBA Finals.
After all, last year’s disappointment is still fresh on Green’s mind.
