Cougar announces the Immersa Pro 7.1 virtual surround gaming headset with RGB illumination

Cougar has come up with a new gaming headset that it claims is its most “powerful” yet. The Immersa Pro gaming headset offers 7.1 virtual surround sound and features a cool ergonomic design with RGB illumination. That’s right. If you have a system full of RGB LED components inside, the Immersa Pro will certainly deserves your attention.

Thanks to the suspended headband design, Cougar claims the Immersa Pro delivers high comfort even when wearing it for long hours, as there is minimal contact between the user’s head and the hard components. The omnidirectional adaptive ear shells can move in all directions, adjusting themselves to the shape of your head. Cougar has also included two oversized 100mm ear pads to further enhance comfort levels as well as provide higher noise isolation.

The Full RGB backlight on the headset is fully customizable with the COUGAR UIX software. Users can choose from five lighting effects or customize the lighting as per their liking. Another impressive feature of the gaming headset is the presence of control dials on both ear cups. Users can use the dials to control the microphone mute mode or adjust the volume. There is even a dedicated LED to notify you when the microphone is muted.

The 7.1 virtual surround sound isn’t new to gaming headsets, there are quite a few gaming headsets out there that offer the same technology. While it certainly does not deliver the same experience as a real 7.1 audio setup, it does give you a better sense of which direction a sound is coming from, which in turn helps provide a more immersive gaming experience.

The Cougar Immersa Pro will be going on sale in markets around the world starting this month. In the US, the gaming headset will carry an MSRP of $89.99.
