Reliance Jio has announced new plans at the AGM meeting held today. The company has also announced the much awaited Reliance JioPhone, a smart feature phone with connectivity options for the masses. The JioPhone is expected to help Jio expand its user base and also add users for the Jio apps.
JioPhone Tariffs and Data Plans
As you would expect, JioPhone would come with its own set of tariffs and data plan offers. Like before, the Voice calls will be free for JioPhone and so will be the SMS’es. Mukesh Ambani has promised that the data will also be affordable and the users of JioPhone will be able to access 4G internet at Rs 153/month. This plan would include 0.5GB of 4G data per day, which can be a boon for the millions of users residing in Indian villages.
Apart from the monthly plan, Jio is also offering a weekly and two-day plan to suit its customer’s needs. The weekly plan is priced at Rs 54 while the two-days plan is available for as little as Rs 24. The smaller packs will be useful for Jio users who use data as and when required.
The JioPhone TV cable is yet another mention worthy introduction from Reliance Jio. The TV cable accessory will allow users to mirror their screen on TV, the best part is that even old CRT TV’s are supported by this cable. It is most likely that the cable option will help subscribers in far flung area use Jio for streaming TV content. However, the JioPhone Cable TV is only available for those who subscribe to the Rs 309 Jio De Dhana Dhan Plan. This is a smart move to improve ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) from Jio.
Jio has also extended the Dhan Dhana Dhan offers across the spectrum for three billing cycles. For instance, Rs 309 recharge will offer 1GB of 4G data/day and is valid for 56 days. The Rs 509 plan offers 2GB Data/day for the time period of 56 days. This brings the effective cost for 1GB of data to around Rs 5 as opposed to the Rs 253 that we used to pay before the Jio disruption.
