A lot has been written about Brock Osweiler over the past year, and very little of it has been positive.
The former Texans quarterback, who is very tall, was dealt to the Browns in March, and Browns coach Hue Jackson had read all those articles critical of Osweiler — from his play on the field to his attitude.
Well, through two weeks of OTAs, Jackson has seen a different quarterback. Osweiler, who is still tall, hasn’t been a problem and actually surprised the Browns staff by how good at football he’s been.
Jackson spoke to reporters on Wednesday and had nothing but great things to say about the newly acquired quarterback.
“I expected everything that you guys wrote. I watched everything that you guys wrote about what he was and what he wasn’t. I heard it from everywhere, too.”
“I think you guys know me; I don’t judge people by what everybody else says. But everybody has a reputation before them. His was a little bit different. He’s not any of that that we’ve [seen]. The guy has been outstanding in our building, and I think that’s what’s most important.”
Osweiler is competing with Cody Kessler, DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan for the Browns’ starting job. In 15 games with Houston, he completed 59 percent of his pass attempts and threw 15 touchdowns to 16 interceptions.
