NBA commissioner Adam Silver has had quite the season. During All-Star Weekend, he was commenting on Kyrie Irving saying the Earth is flat, and now in the NBA Finals, he’s talking about what it was like to be a human shield for Rihanna.
This photo of Silver standing in front of Rihanna as she left Oracle Arena as the Warriors beat the Cavaliers in Game 1 was all over Twitter, along with everything else Rihanna did in that game, including bowing to LeBron James and dabbing.
With a huge smile on his face and while giggling a little, Silver said to ESPN’s Arash Markazi:
“I did not get to catch up with Rihanna, but I was happy to play that role for her. I just sort of put my head down, I kinda felt her behind me, and at first I was thinking, ‘Why are all these people all of a sudden so interested in me?’ Then I realized Rihanna was behind me, so I just played my role. I kept pushing through to help her get out of the arena.”
So yes, even the commissioner of the NBA was in awe of Rihanna.
Here’s video of the moment:
ESPN analyst was also amazed by Rihanna in Game 1. After LeBron James threw down a huge dunk, he said, “I don’t know about this, but Rihanna just walked in front of me. Are you kidding me?”
There were other celebrities at the game, but no one was talked about more than the singer from Barbados.
